It would be a great pleasure to contact her. No doubt to give her my email. Let's see if we can arrange a visit to our school. Tell her: it's a primary school and the library is bit small. She can see something en our blog.
We keep in touch.

Comment by Teresa Ammaccapane on March 18, 2013 at 7:33pm Hi Monica,
A librarian friend from Australia is travelling around Spain. Last week she came to visit my library and now she is in Barcelona and she asked me if I knew any library she could visit. She is a great and experienced librarian with loads of ideas and suggestions. May I put you two in contact maybe?
Thanks a lot!

Comment by Mònica Ricart on November 4, 2012 at 1:02am Hello again.
I'd like to share with you one of my virtual desktop powered by symbaloo.
The blue tiles are dedicated to authors, writers, illustrators... I recommend you the SOL Galeria de autores and also the Open Directory (dmoz). On the last you can find information about spanish authors and other nationalities too.
I'm almost sure that Ricardo Alcántara and Jordi Sierra live in BCN...I also will suggest to contact to your publishers. I don't know in Madrid but here, some publishers offer special programmes on authors visiting schools and colleges. The point is that you must do a good purchase.
Good luck!

Comment by Teresa Ammaccapane on November 3, 2012 at 5:59pm Thanks a lot Monica! Yes, I am the head of both libraries but I am mainly based in the secondary. I am on half term hols now but as soon as I'm back to school, I'll talk to the Spanish dep and see what they think about Alcantara and Sierra. My libraries need the teachers' to be more involved so Spanish or even Dutch authors can work :)
Thanks a lot!

Comment by Mònica Ricart on November 3, 2012 at 2:56am Hello Teresa,
I'm a primary librarian. I guess you are both, is it so?
I imagine in an International College the language used for learning is english?¿? I use to have a visit of author every year but I'm sorry, although we have some readings in english in our reading corners of the english classroom. We invite catalan authors o authors who write in catalan.
Are you thinking about the same author for all those grades?
I think a good one in spanish is Ricardo Alcántara, if I'm not wrong he writes for little children, teenagers, preteenagers. Jordi Sierra has also good books for different ages. I can look for someone else if you want.
We keep in touch.

Comment by Teresa Ammaccapane on November 2, 2012 at 5:50pm Hi Monica, thanks for replying me back.
ICS is the name of my school, International College Spain in Madrid.
Are you a primary or secondary librarian? I'm planning to organize an author visit for next year - around March/April maybe - for Grade 4-5 to 8-9. Do you know anyone from Spain? Would you be interested?
Talk soon!

Comment by Teresa Ammaccapane on October 24, 2012 at 1:45am Hola!
I am Teresa, the new librarian at ICS in Madrid. It would be great to be in touch with other librarians in Spain so that we can talk about ideas, common issues, resources, authors' visits, book fairs, etc.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Teresa :)
