IFLA Congress in Helsinki, Finland

Dear Fellow Librarians,Good day!I just want to inquire if there is any librarian from Finland in this forum. Recently, I was chosen to present my paper on Boundaries between learning environment under the IFLA's Children and Young People's Libraries Division. The paper I submitted was entitled: "Reading 2.0 : meeting the needs of the 21st century readers".Sadly though, the IFLA will not be able to fund our travel to Finland, as well as the accommodation.I am knocking at your heart, if there…See More

I should mention that I recently edited a book about school libraries that you might find interesting. you can look at the companion website at www.lu.com/excellence , which also offers a link for purchase. I hope you won't find that mention too mercenary - the book is 21 essays by 20 authors from across the US. :)

The school started as a preschool and slowly grew to 5th grade. In the early 90's, adjacent property came available and money was found for the Middle School. But we are minutes from downtown Houston - land is very expensive and just our current setup is cramped on the two city blocks we already own. There is no place to put a high school, unless it is across town. So far, that is not the right choice. It is interesting.

My school is 3-yer-olds through 8th grade in Houston TX, 675 kids and associated with the Greek Orthodox Cathedral here. I'm starting my 21st year there - amazing that time has flown so fast. I started when my oldest son was in kindergarten - needless to say, he is almost 25 now.
