Today marks the last day of October, aka International School Library Month. For most of this month I read aloud scary stories to my students here at Middle School 80. Some of the stories come from Germany, Mexico, and Ireland. But my fav story is an American story about a ghost who comes back to retrieve her liver. I memorized it and shared it as a story-telling event, complete with props. The kids loved it. I loved it too. HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!

Ning Thing for my own school!

Hey,
I have finally created a ning for my own school building. The purpose of this new ning thing is to give our staff a platform where they can share/collaborate/discuss instructional issues.
You can look at it. As everything else on the Web, it's a work-in-progress.

Happy tweeting.

Hi Chris,
I just now noticed that you left me a note. Thanks, it has come in time for my talk in Peru. I really liked the idea of sending a note to the Public Librarian about the research projects. Hope we keep in touch.

Chris, thanks. I think it suprises me because my colleagues are such an intelligent professional bunch who are really experts in their subject areas. I just assume they already know it all! I think sometimes we also overestimate our students' abilities to utilize information technologies to their advantage. I'm interested to know how other school librarians are closing the gap. I do lots of workshops and work with some teachers to integrate these resources into their lessons, but we're not yet all on the same page.

Hi back,

Hope you enjoyed reading them. It's always so interesting when someone walks up to me at a conference and says, "I used your book in my class." My motive for writing it was so I wouldn't have to teach what was in the book, but could do more fun things with the class. Nice to know you joined IASL. Getting students to join associations was also a big goal for me.
