CLA Conference 2009

Hi all,
I've just attended the 2009 CLA conference in Montreal. School libraries were well represented this year with sessions in most time slots. Presenters included Ross Todd, John Tooth and Carol Koechlin and several others. The awards ceremony recognized the BCTLA , Michelle Farquarson and Jocelyne Dion. It was a well attended event conducted in French and English. It was good to make connections with our Quebec colleagues. CASL executive is full of energy as it pursues its new strategic plan. Thanks to Richard Beaudry who becomes Past-President CASL has moved forward significantly. He has just created a new ning for CASL at http://caslnetwork.ning.com/ for Canadian school libraries. Thank you Sandra for this report. I like the idea of using this site as a way for CASL and even provincial associations to share news and developments. But I also know how overwhelmed we all are with things already. If you could occasionally post CASL news here that would an important way of connecting IASL to Canadian projects and issues. It's been difficult this year to connect with provincial associations -- the door seems less open than in the past for some reason. IASL is there to support regional work as well as be informed of developments in regions but that all depends on communication! Thanks again Sandra for jumping in.
