Harry Potter Birthday celebrations at Library, Kendriya Vidyalaya Pattom, India

Harry Potter series of books proved that children’s books without illustrations can also become so popular and trendsetters in reading and publishing, said Dr. Radhika C. Nair, Children’s writer and the translator of the first Harry Potter book into Malayalam. She was speaking at the Meet the Author session organized by the Library Media Centre in connection with the Harry Potter birthday celebration at Kendriya Vidyalaya Pattom on 28 July 2011.

Radhika C. Nair also urged the students to fetch out stories and folktales which are hidden in Indian culture which may be  more interesting than the Harry Potter saga.

As part of the celebration, the library has conducted Harry Potter Book jacket designing contest, Harry Potter quiz, Harry Potter birthday recipe writing competition and an exhibition of different editions of Harry Potter books. The prizes for the winners were distributed at the function.
